George Tourlas is a visual artist and illustrator currently lives and works in Athens, Greece. In 2018 he started his own independent clothing label named θώς (θώς is the ancient greek word for jackal), creating limited editions prints, t-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings, embroidered patches, pins and other accessories. “He describes himself best as being interested in the weird, grotesque, sexy and uncanny.” (Holy Ghost IV book, London UK, 2011). “Sick sad fascinating world: the art of George Tourlas. His work explores new depths of transgression and discomfort but all for the sake of a reinterpretation of relationships and other human dynamics.” (Swide magazine, by Dolce and Gabbana, 2009). “To deface is to vandalize or disfigure. Daft and horrifying, ludicrous and cruel, post-human or all too human, Tourlas attempts to abstract faces in context-free space.” (Quondam zine issue 1, by Seagrave records, London UK, 2019).
